Take-5 Rimfire
at the Hogue Action Pistol Range
The purpose of Take-5 is to provide a fun afternoon of timed shooting with .22 rimfire at a variety of steel targets. There are normally five stages for each match, hence the name - Take-5. A major focus of Take-5 is to reach those who already enjoy competitive shooting and all of you who like to shoot .22's, especially "plinkers." Young people and women are cordially invited! Whatever type of .22 pistol or rifle, you will fit right in to one of our classifications of entry. You can shoot pistol, rifle, or both.
A complete description, match schedule, match results and Blazer records/history is found at: http://take-5rimfire.com
Match times are Sign-In at 12 noon and Match Start at 1PM, depending on new-shooter orientation and stage walk-through.
Matches are normally the 4th or 5th Sunday afternoon of each month. Number of rounds is 75-100 (if you hit all the targets on the first shot).
Match dates are found on the Take-5 web site: http://take-5rimfire.com
Match fees are less for SLOSA members: $8 for either pistol or rifle and $12 for both pistol and rifle; for non-SLOSA members the match is $10 and $15, respectively. You save a lot when you join and support SLOSA!

Take-5 stages are steel targets of various kinds. The targets are either stationary and "ring" when they are hit, or fall down when they are hit. For regular matches, pistol shooters have 5 targets on each stage and rifle shooters have 6 targets on each stage. The stages are engaged by each shooter a specified number of times. If engaged once, it is one string. If engaged three times, it is three strings, with the clock stopping after each string. The times for all strings are counted, so make every shot count. Results will be posted on the Internet.
Safety is paramount and there will be certified Range Officers ("RO") to run the match. New shooters will have an orientation before the match begins. Young shooters will be interviewed by the RO's (without their parents being present) to be sure they understand their firearm and safety. Their participation is at the discretion of the RO's, as are all other participants.
This is a cold range, which means a firearm may only be handled at a safe table, or when an RO gives you the command to load and make ready when it is your time to shoot. Ammunition may not be handled at the safe table, but may be handled anywhere else. It is recommended to have a bag for your pistol to carry it around and to carry it to the line when it is your time to shoot. Rifles need to have the bolt open, or an indicator that it is open and empty, keeping the rifle aimed upward at all times, until it is your time to shoot.
Example classifications and notes:
a) Ruger Mark II pistol with stock sights is Limited Pistol
b) Browning Buckmark pistol with C-More optic sight is Open Pistol.
c) Browning Buckmark with Tactical Solutions fluted and colored aluminum replacement barrel is Limited Pistol.
d) Kimber 1911 pistol with .22 conversion and stock sights is Limited Pistol.
e) Ruger 10/22 rifle, magazine feed, stock sights is Limited Rifle.
f) Remington bolt action .22 rifle, tube feed with scope is Open Rifle, without scope, Manually Operated,
g) Tube feed rifles will be initially loaded with 10 rounds maximum and reloaded after each string (when more than one string is required).
h) It is suggested to have more than one magazine for pistols, or someone will reload for you between strings.
See you at the range & make every shot count!
