3 gun match at the Hogue range. Sign in at 8:00 shooting at 9:00
Time:
8:00am - 2:00pm
Description:
We start with a rifle match at 9:00 A.M. Best to show up around 8 to 8:30 to get acquainted and set out your gear. Any flintlock or caplock rifle or musket is acceptable. We do not shoot in-lines. Single shot pistols and percussion revos may be used for the pistol match which follows.
Rifle matches may be paper target, steel silhouettes or knock down plates. Pistol is usually paper. Sometimes we squad up and hold an "Indian Attack" [4x4 shoot]. Team that cuts theirs in half the fastest wins. That's when you want a guy with minie balls on your team! Most double-ball for maximum effect.
After that is the primitive match, which involves knife and hawk throwing, bow, or sometimes a Seneca Run [which is a skills course involving many different skills, including the above, shooting, setting a trap and making fire with flint & steel].
Sometimes we have a Hot Dog BBQ or a prize drawing following the match. Occasionally a member will bring a black powder mortar and launch a few golf balls or concrete beer cans [depending on bore] for fun. One of the guys has a cannon, but it's too heavy to load for just an afternoon's shooting. We usually head home around 1 or 2 P.M.

The Chorro Valley Regulators, a venue within The San Luis Obispo Sportsman’s Association, hosts a Cowboy Action Shooting match every 2nd Sunday and most 5th Sundays of each month. A Long Range Rifle Side Match starts around 7 AM with the Main match starting at 9 AM after a mandatory shooters briefing. We normally shoot 6 "stages" and finish early to mid afternoon. Bring your own lunch and drinks. We have running water, restroom facilities, and a hot shower for your pleasure. The summer temperature is usually around 75 degrees with cool ocean breezes.
Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) is a timed, scenario based shooting competition where participants use firearms that are typically associated with The Old West and the American Cowboy. Single Action revolvers, Lever Action rifles, and a "Scattergun" are the order of the day in this shooting sport. Competitors will use authentic or replica revolvers such as Colt’s Peacemaker or Ruger Vaqueros. Rifles are of the lever action type made by Winchester, Marlin and other approved rifles that utilize a pistol cartridge. Both of the aforementioned firearms use ammunition that uses a lead bullet only. No jacketed, copper washed, or gas check bullets are allowed. Shotguns are either a side-by-side double barrel without ejectors or pump action shotguns with an exposed hammer such as were made by Marlin or Winchester. Most participants wear traditional Old West attire. Matches are run according to Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) rules.

Description:
The purpose of Take-5 is to provide a fun afternoon of timed shooting with .22 rimfire at a variety of steel targets. There are normally five stages for each match, hence the name - Take-5. A major focus of Take-5 is to reach those who already enjoy competitive shooting and all of you who like to shoot .22's, especially "plinkers." Young people and women are cordially invited! Whatever type of .22 pistol or rifle, you will fit right in to one of our classifications of entry. You can shoot pistol, rifle, or both.
A complete description, match schedule, match results and Blazer records/history is found at: http://take-5rimfire.com
Match times are Sign-In at 12 noon and Match Start at 1PM, depending on new-shooter orientation and stage walk-through.
Matches are normally the 4th or 5th Sunday afternoon of each month. Number of rounds is 75-100 (if you hit all the targets on the first shot).
Match dates are found on the Take-5 web site: http://take-5rimfire.com
Match fees are less for SLOSA members: $8 for either pistol or rifle and $12 for both pistol and rifle; for non-SLOSA members the match is $10 and $15, respectively. You save a lot when you join and support SLOSA!
