This statement is the most up-to-date information we have as of May 31, 2020:
In response to the COVID-19 "shelter-at-home" order issued by the County Health Department on March 18th, the range is closed. The range is located on state land administered by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. SLOSA is a non-profit whose employees and volunteers manage and operate the range. As such, the end date of the closure depends on decisions by both the County Health Department and the Dept of Fish and Wildlife. On May 29th, Mr Bob Stafford at DFW asked us to share this message with the membership:
At present, the Department is working with staff from our wildlife areas throughout the state to safely begin reopening our facilities which have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Part of this effort is developing a protocol for reopening facilities so that appropriate measures are in place to prevent further spread of the virus. We requested that our contractor, San Luis Obispo Sportsmen’s Association (SLOSA), provide us with a draft reopening plan to help the Department facilitate the reopening process. In our ongoing communications with SLOSA, we received the initial draft plan last week. Further, we are also reviewing the measures in the draft plan to determine their consistency with Statewide guidance, including specific guidance for both indoor and outdoor facilities. We will continue to work with SLOSA to develop a plan which provides for public safety while moving towards a phased reopening.
Thanks and have a good morning.
